We’re writing to let you know about two “Meals from the Heartland” events.  The first is August 28-31 at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.  Additional information is included below.  The second event, a “Meals from the Heartland” HungerFight, will be held at the recreational center in Story City on Saturday, September 28.  For further information on that event, please contact the church secretary at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City at 515-733-4972.

Iowa District LCMC Council

From August 28-31 we hope to package enough meals to FEED 4 MILLION PEOPLE over the course of 4 days at Hy-Vee Hall in downtown Des Moines.  We need your support to make this event a success. 4 Million Meals in 4 days takes…

About 10,000 Packagers (on average each person will package 400+ meals in just 2 hours!!!)About 600 Support Volunteers (25 Setup Crew, 110 Box Makers, 88 Event Greeters, 294 Bucket Brigaders and 110 Pack Masters!!!)

33 Semi Loads
It takes about 18 semi loads of raw ingredients and 15 loads of finished meals to make and distribute 4 million meals!!!

Fundraising
Create a fundraiser on our Facebook page to help us package more meals. This is a great option if you are unable to help us package meals at Hy-Vee Hall.
